Migraine is a debilitating neurological disease that affects about 1 in 7 people worldwide.

While the painful condition is common, the stigma associated with migraine, often mistaken as “just a headache,” can leave people feeling isolated and discouraged.

To help set the record straight on these misconceptions and to support and educate people with migraine, the ninth annual Migraine World Summit will take place online — for free — from March 6 through 13. The event will be available to order afterward.

Co-hosted by patient advocates Carl Cincinnato, who founded the summit, and Paula K. Dumas, the founder of Everyday Health’s network site Migraine Again, the summit will include sessions with migraine experts from around the world and patient advocates on the latest treatments and best practices to better manage migraine. Organizers expect more than 130,000 people to log in this year.

“Summit viewers regularly express feelings of empowerment and the ability to take steps that meaningfully contribute to their disease management and well-being as a result of watching these interviews,” says Elizabeth DeStefano, the director of operations for the Migraine World Summit and managing editor of Migraine Again.
