New executive director begins work at Maui’s Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Centers : Maui Now

Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Centers’ nonprofit Board of Directors announced the appointment of Sue R. Sadecki as the nonprofit’s new executive director. Today, the agency welcomed Sadecki on her first day at work and held a blessing ceremony at its Wailuku shelter.

Sadecki, a seasoned healthcare executive, comes with a wealth of administrative management experience in nonprofit organizations in Arizona. She succeeds Monique R. Ibarra, who resigned her position with KHAKO to become CEO at the Domestic Violence Action Center on Oʻahu.

Helen “Kit” Hart, chair of KHAKO’s Board of Directors, expressed confidence in Sadecki’s demonstrated leadership and administrative abilities.

“We are welcoming Sue at a time of Maui’s devastating loss as well as a time of our loss of the Lahaina shelter and affordable housing,” said Hart. “Sue brings fresh vision and energy to the many challenges and opportunities before us all. It is with warmest aloha that we welcome her.”

Sadecki said, “I am looking forward to working closely with the incredible team of staff members, the dedicated board of directors, and our community partners at Ka Hale A Ke Ola. It is truly an honor and a privilege to support the legacy of love that has been the cornerstone of Ka Hale A Ke Ola for more than 30 years in the support of our mission caring for the members of our community.”

Sadecki most recently served as the Executive Director of Desert Mission and Community Services in Phoenix, Arizona. In that role, Sadecki oversaw the administrative management of a nonprofit organization with an annual budget of $13 million, providing essential services to the low-income residents of Phoenix. These services included an emergency food bank, a pre-Kindergarten child development learning center, an adult day enrichment program and community development/outreach programs, all aimed at supporting the health and wellbeing of children, youth, seniors and families.

Sadecki’s professional experience also includes roles in healthcare business development and directorship of community education and wellness centers. She holds a Bachelor of General Sciences in Liberal Arts degree with a major in sociology and a Master of Science in Education, both from the University of Kansas. Sadecki is a certified health education specialist, a certified personal trainer and a certified Franklin Covey Facilitator. She is also a Leadership Fellow of the Advisory Board Company.
