Maui voters impacted by the August 2023 wildfires are urged to check and update their voter registration ahead of the 2024 Elections.

Election officials want to remind voters that ballots are sent to their mailing address associated with their voter registration, so checking that their mailing address is current will ensure that their 2024 Primary and General Election ballots are successfully delivered.

“We understand that this is a difficult time for the impacted communities, but we want to ensure that they can still exercise their right to vote by reminding voters to keep their voter registration up to date,” said Chief Election Officer Scott Nago.

Election officials sent out a voter registration application to the voters of Lahaina, with information about updating their mailing addresses. “Although displaced Lahaina residents may have a few address changes over the next year, our office is happy to assist with each new update. Our goal is to make sure every voter receives their ballot,” said Maui County Clerk Moana Lutey.

When a voter moves or changes their mailing address, they must update their voter registration because ballots are not forwardable. Election officials also want voters to be aware that a change of address made with the USPS does not carry through to your voter registration. Voters must complete a voter registration application to update their information.

Voters may also update their registration at elections.hawaii.gov, by logging in with a Hawaiʻi Driver License or State ID. Voter registration applications are also available at libraries, post offices and the Maui County Elections Division located at 200 S. High St. in Wailuku.

For official election and voter information, visit elections.hawaii.gov or call 808-453-VOTE (8683).
